Welcome to the Island Perspective Blog. It is here, where you can find out what global events look like from an outside perspective. What weird or bizarre stories make it all the way to a dot on the map country? A spec of land on planet Earth. A remote island on the Pacific Rim called Guam. And one college kid, who is an unknown, on an unknown island...this might actually be the most unknown blog in the entire worLD! Last few words... "TRIPLE P...Positivity.Progression.Peace." -JRS

I will take this opportunity to publish my thoughts. I am able to see what I was processing in my head on a computer screen and get up, walk away from it, and point an index finger at it in the shape of a fake gun. A hand gun. Now, thats what I call a HAND, GUN. After typing in the word "gun" and realizing I repeated it 4 times in a row, I just realized my blog has just been hit with a reg flag by the Govt. Internet Police. The G.I.P. They're not really called that. Okay well, fear not G.I.P. I am not a threat to society. I do not have any intention of using a gun in the public arena. And there is not sarcatic'alities going on for real. 4real, 4real. Let's all laugh over a beer like what Obama, the cop and that black professor did. Okay but after a deep breath, back to the lecture at hand. By the way Im listening to "We're Gonna Make It" by Damian Jr.Gong Marley. And it is the early afternoon. Imagine that, global audience. Okay so yes, this publishing your thoughts thing thats going on globally. I cannot hate on it. Its something I see as beneficial in the long run. We are turning society in to becoming more literate individuals. We are better spellers! We never spell shit wrong on facebook, spell check is a genius! Now I'm a Genius! Yes. (that should be a commerical) At the thought of it, if you DO happen to spell something wrong on facebook, then haha. You are now being teased at that. Change in times right. What else? It's mind therapy. Get it out of your head, and its out of your head. Yes. It reminds me of a conversation I had with somebody we were coming up with website names and ideas over a club sandwich, and he said, "What about a website, that you can put down what you hate. Do they have that yet?" And this conversation was maybe in February. But yea I see it as mind therapy. So yes, Its got that therapeutic thing going on there. By the way I spelled therapeutic wrong but thanks to spell check underlining the word in red! Yup. Oh yeah and lastly twitter is making a lot of people incredibly narcissistic. (I had to right click to spell that word right. haha. genius.) But twitter is too much thought publishing. Its for self absorbed individuals. An example of a twitter post, "Right now I am eating a loaf of 9 Grain whole wheat bread." Haha. People are updating their lives way too frequently. Please (spell) check yourself. Stop doing it. Stand up, get some scissors and cut that out.Thanks. Its 2Much, thats all. K. Im out. Oh yeah, Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize. 2009. Yes We Can. History is unfolding in our lifetimes. Finally! haha. And I heard of that at about 6:30 pm Guam time last night. 18 hours ago? Guam people are up to date global audience. By the way, I see you Hu Jia, Chinese Activist, 2nd place to Obama in the Nobel Peace Price voting. Yea I researched it. Boom. Peace out. Dot. And by the way I went to a comedy show last night. Was drinking from 6-1 or 2. Haha. I dont remember shit from last night. I dont know how I got home. All I know is I was laughing the whole night. That comedy show was hilarious.Try to see a comedy show at a city near you ASAP. Or a town or a village near you. Yes. Go with people you see a lot. K. Peace World.

Brazil Wins Bid to Host 2016 Olympics
I watched live on CNN, Pres.Obama deliver his speech to urge the IOC to pick Chicago o host the 2016 Olympics. Tokyo, Spain,Chicago, and Brazil were in the running. At the end of the day Obama got rejected and the IOC voted for Brazil to host in 2016. Some news pundits mocked Obama's failed attempt to deliver the 2016 Olympics by saying "The Ego has landed." Messed up. But funny. I guess the critics were waiting to use that one. Haha. This is the first time a South American country gets to host the Olympics so congratulations to them. I want to go to Brazil in 2016 with some Guam people or anybody else to party in Brazil, be in the atmosphere and check out the games. Rio de Janiero looks insane. I gotta see it in real life and have a beer there.

Guam kid listening to KID CUDI: "Man on the Moon: the End of the Day"
I would like to recommend this album. It's a different kind of rap album. More melodic flows and hooks. Plus the album is divided into sections chronicling the artist's life until this point. (I only started to like Kid Cudi after Jay-Z certified him on the Blueprint 3 track "Already Gone" in which Cudi sings the hook)

Mayweather Dominates Marquez (Sept.19)
I watched the Mayweather/Marquez fight live in Guam. It was about 1:00 pm Guam time. I watched it in my friend's living room on a big ass plasma tv. There was only about 4-5 of us. Mayweather won decisively. He pretty much dominated the fight against the smaller, slower Marquez. I knew Mayweather was going to win. I mean he's bigger, stronger, younger and faster than Marquez. I knew Marquez just wanted to fight Mayweather to get that big payday. He had to move up two weight classes just to fight Money May. Well, props to Marquez for fighting Mayweather, but truth is Money May is just too skilled. He is a very smart fighter, with great defensive skills. I heard he has never bled. Meaning he has never got cut in all of his fights. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? This could be the biggest fight in modern boxing history as they are considered pound for pound the top 2 fighters in the world today. I can't wait for that. And although Pacquiao has been to Guam, and is cool with Guam, I got to bet my dollar on the bigger fighter which is Mayweather. They are both fast, but who wins in a fast vs. fast fight? The bigger guy will win. Money May, still undefeated. We are witnessing greatness. Possibly the greatest fighter of all time.

There's some wierd PPL in the states
Yeah I heard about that Yale student who was strangled and murdered, and she was supposed to get married that week. Its all over the news. They got a guy in custody who is a lab technician who they're saying is the main suspect. People that knew him are saying he's a control freak. He looks guilty honestly. He looks like he would be stupid enough to do something like that to an innocent girl who had everything going for her in life. R.I.P. Im glad they don't got any lonely lab technician psychos out here on Guam. People are generally happier and friendlier out here. Therefore, less likely to commit such heinous acts.

The Ultimate Fighter 10 gets Highest Ratings Ever (4.1 Million Viewers)

I watched the season premiere of TUF 10 with Kimbo Slice last night. Out of curiosity I typed in to google "TUF 10 Ratings" just to see if a lot of other people in the states watched the show. I was surprised to learn that the show had the highest ratings of all time in all ten seasons of The Ultimate Fighter. Here is the article:
The season debut of “The Ultimate Fighter 10” shattered the network’s previous ratings record for the show with a whopping 4.1 million viewers (5.3 rating), according to a press release distributed by Spike TV Thursday.
The series’ previous highpoint was 2.8 million viewers for the live finale of “The Ultimate Fighter 3” in 2006, said the release.
The addition of streetfighting sensation Kimbo Slice to the 16-man heavyweight cast helped the cable network top the Men 18-34, 18-49, 18-24, and 25-34 demos, beating out “The Jay Leno Show,” “America’s Got Talent” season finale and others, according to the release.
The debut also grabbed 3.2 million viewers in the co-gender Person 18-49 demographic.

Fed Chair Ben Bernanke says "Recession Is Over.""
I heard this news while I was listening to k57 talk radio on the way to school. This is all I could find on the internet regarding today's breaking news.
Some people are saying, yeah, the recession IS over. Now it's time
for the depression. Because things will get worse.
for the depression. Because things will get worse.
Okay. Let's hope not.
President Obama calls Kanye a "Jackass" over Taylor Swift Incident
This has been in the entertainment section of Guam's newspapers these past couple days. I don't pay much attention to these petty things, whos dating who, celbrity beefs, etc. BUT when the President commented on the situation I took notice. Here is the President's audio commentary.
After that, I had to research the video and see what all the fuss was about. Video of Kanye's rant at the VMA's 2009.
I don't think this help's Kanye's career in any way shape or form.

My favorite song of the month!
I've listened to this song at least once a day for the past 3 weeks. It is called "Forever" by Drake, Kanye. Lil Wayne and Eminem.
I've been reading comments about the verses by each rapper and the majority of people say Eminem killed it with his verse. To the hip hop iliterate that means Eminem had the best verse out of all the rappers. I agree. Thank you Em for using your real voice again to rap, and not your voice that you been using on "We Made You" and pretty much your whole Encore and Relapse album. Matter fact, Em's verse on "Forever" was better than his whole Relapse album! (Also: I heard they are shooting a video for this song, so look out for it.)
Surviving Disaster
There is this new tv show on Spike about how to survive disasters. So far I have seen 2 out of 3 episodes. I watched the one about an airplane hijacking and the one about an office building burning down. The next episode is about how to survive a hurricane. The way they are promoting this episode is by saying "you cannot afford to miss this episode." It's a marketing tactic of fear. They're basically saying if you miss this episode there is a good chance you will lose your life. First and foremost, Guam residents have survived numerous typhoons (aka hurricanes) of winds above 200 mph without watching a tv show on how to survive. It would be interesting to see the episode but I think I know how to survive a hurricane aka typhoon. Thanks though. I like the show because of its innovative content. There will also be upcoming episodes about how to survive a nuclear attack, home invasion, avalanche, lost at sea, earthquake and mall shooting. I want to watch that nuclear attack episode.
